Artisan Grills: The Under-the-Radar Louisiana-Built Alternative
Updated September 2026: Artisan is a small-shop American grill manufacturer (Bossier City, Louisiana) that shows up in high-end outdoor kitchen builds but rarely gets its own reviews. Two current lines — Professional and American Eagle — plus a compact 26" model. All 304 stainless, all dual-wall hood standard (a feature you pay $2K upcharge for on Alfresco LXE), all with lifetime warranty on cast burners. Here's what you're getting for the money.
What Artisan Grills actually is
Artisan Grills was launched by the founders of Artisan Barbecue (a Louisiana catering + custom grill fabrication shop) in 2014, aimed at the residential premium market. Every grill is welded, polished, and finished by hand at the Bossier City facility. Distinct in the American-premium bracket for the dual-wall hood standard on every model — most competitors charge extra for that construction.
The Artisan grill lineup
Professional 32/36/42" ($4,500-$7,200): Artisan's mid-tier. 3, 4, or 5 U-shaped stainless burners, rotisserie infrared burner, dual-wall hood, LED knob lighting. Positioned between Bull Diablo and Hestan on price and finish quality.
American Eagle 32/36/42" ($5,800-$9,000): Artisan's flagship. Same firebox as Professional but with sear + rotisserie infrared (dual IR burners), solid-cast knobs, and a warming rack redesigned for 60% more capacity. American Eagle 42" competes with Hestan 42" at ~55% of Hestan's price.
Compact 26" ($3,200): The small-patio option. 2 burners, no infrared, freestanding cart. If your outdoor space is 100 sq ft or less and a Bull Angus 30 is too big, this is a real option.
Where Artisan wins
1. Dual-wall hood as standard. Better heat retention on cold nights and windy patios. Alfresco upcharges $2K for the same feature on ALXE.
2. Warranty. Lifetime cast burners + 15-year housing + 10-year grates. On par with the strongest in the American premium bracket.
3. Price positioning. American Eagle 42" ($9,000) vs Hestan 42" ($22,700). The Hestan has 316 stainless + 20 knob colors; Artisan has 304 + 4 knob colors. If aesthetics don't drive your spec, the $13K delta is real.
Where it doesn't
Artisan is a small-shop maker — dealer network is thinner than Hestan/Alfresco/Bull, so if you need warranty service in a small market, response can be slower. Aesthetics are workmanlike, not luxury — no laser-etched knobs, no color-matched millwork options. If your outdoor kitchen budget is $50K+ and finish match to the rest of the space matters, spend on Hestan instead.
