Freestanding grills (often called "cart grills") roll into place, plug into a propane tank or NG quick-disconnect, and are ready to cook. Built-in grills slide into a masonry or stainless island and are plumbed to natural gas. Built-ins look cleaner and read as part of the architecture, but they require a permanent location and (usually) a contractor. Cooking performance between a brand's built-in and cart versions is generally identical — same burners, same grates, same warranty.

A useful rule: 100 square inches of primary cooking area per person you regularly cook for, then add 25%. So a household of four wants ~500 sq in, which lines up with the standard 32–36" grills from Bull, Hestan, Coyote, and Summerset. Bigger isn't always better — oversized grills are harder to hold low-and-slow temperatures on, and the extra real estate goes unused. If you entertain monthly for a dozen+, step up to 42" or 48".

Gas (NG or propane) is the workhorse — instant on, precise temperature, the most common build choice. Charcoal delivers the best sear and the most flavor, at the cost of 20–30 minute startup and ash cleanup. Pellet grills are the easiest path to true wood-fired smoke and indirect cooking — set a temperature, the auger feeds pellets, the controller does the rest. Many serious cooks own two: a gas grill for weeknights, plus a smoker or pellet grill for the weekend.

Coverage varies by brand. Hestan ships lifetime warranties on burners, grates, and primary structure. Bull, Coyote, and Summerset ship lifetime on stainless structure plus 10–15 years on burners. As an authorized dealer for every brand we carry, we handle warranty claims directly with the manufacturer — you don't have to chase them yourself.

Yes — and there's no restocking fee. We offer a 30-day return policy from delivery for grills in original, unused condition, with a full refund on the merchandise. Built-in grills that have been installed (cut into a masonry surround, hard-plumbed to gas) are non-returnable — once a grill is built into an island, it's site-specific. Used grills are non-returnable; manufacturer warranty applies for defects. Return shipping freight on a grill is the customer's responsibility.
